Last July 19 children (pictured above) attended the Active Schools Awards at Camden Town Hall. On behalf of Gospel Oak, they accepted the School & Community Games Award for 2nd primary school in the borough (probably the hardest and most prestigious category to win). This award is allocated based on points accrued from:

We are also delighted to announce that we, Gospel Oak, have achieved the School Games Platinum Mark Award for the 2024/25 academic year. The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success. Our sporting achievements this year include:
9 different sports clubs run weekly before and after school.
520 free lunchtime sports sessions delivered.
Skipping and Dance workshops for all classes (R-Y6)
All KS2 Pupils invited to sports competitions (and 87% choosing to take part)
22 High Level competitions entered (in a range of 11 different sports).
23 Friendlies, Inclusive, Sport4All events attended
Camden Champions: Boys football (y3/4), Sports Hall Athletics, Girls Basketball, Dodgeball (y4 & y5 & y6), Tennis (y3/4 & y5/6), Gymnastics (y5/6).
Runners-Up: Girls Football, Boys Basketball, Gymnastics (y3/4), Benchball, Camden Active Schools.
With a total of 199 young people competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.
As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year. A special thanks to: Nathan Pallas, Siobhan Montgomery, Syd Gooding, Mia Nicastro, Shabnam Eslambolchi Heckmann, Ou Frith.
“Gospel Oak Primary School is the first school in Camden to receive the prestigious Platinum Award in the School Games Mark. It highlights the many years of commitment by Jef Gooding and staff to providing high-quality physical education and school sport, which encourages every child to be active, healthy, and engaged in sport. Very few schools nationally achieve the School Games Platinum Award so it really is a great achievement. Well done Gospel Oak!”
